APPLICATION OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT IN WATER SUPPLY BASED ON SOLUTION IMPLEMANTED BY THE INSTITUTE OF APPLIED ECOLOGY IN SKÓRZYN

The article presents sustainable development goals with respect to water and sewage management and possibilities of their practical implementation. The first part of the article discusses the concept of sustainable development, the reasons for its introduction as well as its reflection in Polish legislation.Furthermore, a comparison is made between the goals written in the Polish law and the actual status of their implementation. The second part of the article presents the system of sewage treatment and purification of obtained water to reuse it to flush toilets and irrigate green areas, designed in 2008. The final part of the article presents experiences from 5-year operation of the facility, the quality of water obtained from sewage and the results of purification and recovery of the water following utilization of the presented technological system.
