Bisons enclosure by Institute

Bison`s breeding farm in Sycowice is located in the buffer zone of Gryżyński`s Park. It is a 50 acre complex of wet meadows, along with numerous meadow and field wooded areas – a special place for bisons. Sycowice is the seventh breeding farm of these magnificent mammals in Poland. In the implementation of the entire project Institute`s of Applied Ecology partners the Association of European Bison. This cooperation has not only facilitated the procurment of funds for the construction of farm infrastructure, but  it has also created a platform for staff of the Institute to collaborate with specialists in the restoration of bison in Poland.


Construction of a pen is a partly implemented under the project "Protection of Ex situ Bison bonasus in Poland". The project is 85% funded by the European Union from European Regional Development Fund within the Programme Infrastructure and Environment in the framework of the priority action 5.1 V according to the contract of grant number: POIS.05.13.00-00-050/09-00 and 15 % is financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management according to the contract of co-financing of eligible expenditure of Project implemented under the V axis of priority POIiŚ No.: 615/2010/Wn-50/OP-WK-PS/D.

Entrance to the Bison Breeding farm is only possible with a guide.
